Beggshill Bothy One Bedroom Holiday Cottage

Welcome to Beggshill Bothy

Beggshill Bothy is a dog friendly one bedroom holiday cottage in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire. Situated in a peaceful valley approximately 5 miles from the creative town of Huntly, it is the perfect location to get away from it all, relax, and explore the North East of Scotland. Walking, cycling and fishing are all on our doorstep, whilst beautiful beaches are only a 40 minute drive away.

About Us

Built in the 1920's as a farm labourer's cottage, Beggshill Bothy was completely refurbished to create a simple, cosy retreat away from hectic day to day living.

Situated in a peaceful glen just a few miles from the busy A96 running from Aberdeen to Inverness, Beggshill Bothy is a one bedroom holiday cottage adjacent to the owner’s house at Little Beggshill. The whole site extends to approximately 3 acres, which includes an area of woodland and our secure dog paddock, both of which you are welcome to enjoy.

We are surrounded by wildlife; watch the deer graze in the clearing opposite, sit back and listen to the birds, or see if you can spot the hare frolicking by the lane. The owl can be heard most nights, and pheasants are frequently attempting suicide on the lane! Without any light pollution, the night sky is truly beautiful. If you are very lucky the Northern Lights may put on a show for you.

A Home From Home

At Beggshill Bothy you’ll find everything you need for an enjoyable, comfortable stay. We’ve made sure that all the important stuff, along with the little details, are taken care of. No need to overpack or worry. We’ve got you covered.

Dog Friendly Accommodation

Up to 4 dogs are welcome to holiday with their humans at Beggshill Bothy at no extra cost. Whilst all dogs MUST be kept on leads immediately outside the Bothy, you can enjoy unlimited use of the Dog Paddock. Surrounded by 5ft deer fencing, the space was created for our own sighthounds to be able to run around safely.

Cuddly blankets, a tall double raised feeder from and old towels are all available in the Bothy for your dogs to use. A large crate is available on request.

Our nearest town, Huntly offers all the facilities you will need to make the most of your stay. From supermarkets and petrol stations, to the whisky shop, cafes, restaurants, takeaways and independent retailers, you will not need to venture far for all of your supplies.

Dean's Shortbread Cafe & Bistro is well worth a visit, and a visit to the community run Orb's Bookshop is highly recommended. The Ethical Gift Shop & Refillery is always good for a browse!

Huntly Farmers Market is held on the first Saturday of every month in The Square. A great place to buy local produce!
